Member Services: Continuing Education

The Portland Area Library System (PORTALS) is a multitype library consortium committed to meeting the research and educational needs of people in the Portland-Vancouver metro area and beyond through cooperative and creative access to information resources and services.

Building on its past strength in the delivery of continuing education programs, PORTALS is striving to become a premiere provider and coordinator of continuing education opportunities by:

  • Expanding and diversifying membership through a multi-tier membership structure
  • Collaborating with other continuing education providers to maximize resources, ensure relevancy, and reduce duplication of services
  • Galvanizing PORTALS member-driven infrastructure to develop relevant, practical, cutting-edge continuing education programs

PORTALS Continuing Education Program is rapidly evolving, including:

  • The development of an online clearinghouse for continuing education opportunities
  • The development of a curriculum-driven training program
  • The ongoing development of member-driven programs

Please see PORTALS April 2004 Continuing Education Survey.

Please check back soon for more information about each of these programmatic areas.
