After nearly two years at City Hall, the Philadelphia Portal will leave its current location on October 31, 2026.

Since 2024, the Portal has welcomed hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors, connecting Philadelphia in real time with communities around the world. Strangers wave across oceans, artists collaborate across cultures, school groups experience distant places live, and everyday passers-by are reminded that the world is closer than it often seems.

The Portal was originally unveiled as part of Philadelphia’s celebrations leading up to America’s 250th anniversary. While its City Hall placement was temporary, the ambition has always been for the sculpture to become a lasting landmark in Philadelphia.

“In the City of Brotherly Love, the Portal became a place where pure human connection could be felt every day,” said Benediktas Gylys, founder of Portals. “It belongs in Philadelphia. What we need now is for a local partner to step forward and say yes.”

Portals Organization is now seeking:

• A hosting partner with access to a prominent, publicly accessible location with sufficient open space, power and internet connectivity.
• A sponsoring partner able to support relocation, refurbishment and continued participation in the global network.
• Local partners and civic leaders who can assist with introductions, approvals and site coordination.

These roles may be fulfilled by one organization or several partners working together.

A preferred path forward must be identified by the end of September so preparations for a new site can begin before the current placement ends. Without a new local partnership, the Portal may need to relocate to another city.
