South America’s First Portal to Open in Piauí, Brazil

Portals Organization is pleased to announce the opening of the next Portal sculpture, debuting in Barra Grande, Piauí, Brazil, on March 28, 2026. Located on one of the country’s most pristine beaches, the Piauí Portal will become the first Portal in South America and the seventh Portal sculpture in the world.

Situated along one of Brazil’s most beautiful coastlines, Barra Grande is widely regarded for its untouched natural beauty, tranquil pace of life, and warm hospitality. From the majestic Parnaíba Delta to the preserved beaches and lagoons of the region, Piauí has increasingly drawn national and international attention as an emerging destination for ecotourism and a welcoming way of life.

Once opened, the Piauí Portal will provide a 24/7 livestream, connecting with existing Portals in Vilnius (Lithuania), Lublin (Poland), Dublin (Ireland), Philadelphia (United States), Ipswich (United Kingdom), and BGC Manila (Philippines) as well as other locations set to open later this year. Through this global network, Barra Grande will be able to connect and share its culture and everyday life directly with the world.

“Opening our first Portal in South America and welcoming Brazil into the Portals family is a meaningful milestone for our community,” says Benediktas Gylys, founder of Portals Organization. “Brazil holds a special place in my heart. I deeply admire its vibrant culture, the warmth of its people, and the incredible human spirit that defines the country. With the Portal in Barra Grande, this energy will now enrich the global artwork we are creating together. Piauí combines breathtaking nature, strong cultural identity, and a forward-looking spirit, making it an inspiring new chapter in the evolving story of Portals.”

According to the President of Investe Piauí, Victor Hugo Almeida, the Portal is part of a strategy designed to generate jobs, income, and new opportunities for the people of Piauí, positioning the state competitively in the global tourism market.

“We are creating a permanent showcase for tourism in Piauí, with the aim of increasing tourist visits and the average length of stay in the state, strengthening commerce, the hotel sector, bars, restaurants, and tourism services. In other words, we are working to strengthen tourism and promote local economic development,” he explains.

We look forward to welcoming everyone in Barra Grande and across all Portal locations to share in this experience of unity. The Piauí Portal will be unveiled on the beachfront in Barra Grande, with the opening ceremony scheduled for March 28, 2026 at 10AM local time.

The Piauí Portal was made possible with the generous support of our partner Investe Piauí.
